Museums, People Counting for Attendance Recording, and Security

The Overhead People Counters are installed at the main entrances and strategic nodes (see Nodal Configuration).  In-ceiling installation and wiring means no obstructions on the floor and low cost installation.   The units provide date stamped and Audit quality attendance figures in both real time and in retrospect.  The system can provide the data of  the  number of persons in each area at any given time, on a continual basis.  Several months of data are kept in memory, and can be used for audit purposes.  Data is in spread sheet compatible format, and can be accessed through the serial data link directly (via a standard  portable PC) or remotely via LAN or modem connection. This data can thus be monitored remotely, off site, from a central location.  Audits can be done on the basis of these reports, as the integrity of the counts is password protected.

Manual counting is subject to fraud, but attempts at fooling this system is visible due to comparisons with normal traffic patterns.

By installing the units in strategic traffic nodes, the movement of persons through the facility is easily analysed.  Traffic for special exhibits, etc, is easily visible.  Attendance can be analysed for peak and low traffic times since data can be recorded each minute, 10 minutes, or each hour.  Each node can be provided with a fluorescent display of room attendance figures, for manual recording.

Due to the all in-ceiling wiring, (which consists of a single, supplied, plug-in cable), the units are easily movable from one temporary exhibit area to another, using in-house labor instead of costly outside subcontractors.  The units are designed to fit in standard T-bar ceilings.

In the off hours, the units will provide foolproof security of the monitored areas, as the units cannot be bypassed without causing a count or tamper report.  The system thus supplements the in-place security system, and is much more reliable than the industry standard PIR motion detectors, which are easily fooled.

Summary of Features

The Overhead People Counter is ideal for Audit recording of Attendance.  The advantages include:

-Accurate detection, counting, and reporting of people traffic through the facility

-Audit quality reporting of this data stored in memory for retrieval at any time

-Serial data link interface for simple LAN or dial-up access from a remote location

-Simple plug-in wiring & Installation means detectors are easily moved to new configurations

-Data reports are in Spread Sheet compatible format

-Data can be specified in minute, 10 minute, or hour increments.

-Provides “Security Curtain” in off hours, and is interface compatible to all Security systems.

-Units are available under lease-to-buy terms.
