The Security Curtain consists of a chain of Overhead Sensor units, daisy chained to form one continuous detector array (curtain) from wall-to-wall. Since the Overhead Sensors consist of hundreds of interlocked, crossing, active Infrared beams from ceiling to floor, and wall to wall, an effective detector wall is in position to warn of any people passage though this invisible barrier.
This product is intended for use where a physical barrier cannot be permanently in place because of fire regulations, occasional heavy traffic passage, where floor obstructions cannot be placed, etc. For example, in passageways to and from Airport gates, and customs clearance areas. The passageway can be “armed” to detect any passage when none is allowed, eliminating the need to have someone go and physically close a barrier.
Of course this system also acts as a high accuracy people counter.
The CrowdCounter Technology Security curtain is superior to Passive IR motion detectors, as passive IR motion detectors can be fooled. The CrowdCounter Overhead sensor, however, cannot be defeated. CrowdCounter Technology will not disclose the methods for defeating Passive IR Motion detectors here, for public security reasons. We will disclose them to persons on a need to know basis.
Conventional side-by-side detectors are not effective in these types of applications, as they allow easy “hop over”.
