The Overhead People Sensor is installed at the entrances of each gate, as well as strategic areas such as main passageways and service passages. The units can be daisy chained to cover any width of passageway, effectively a “security curtain”, which cannot be passed undetected. The Overheads use hundreds of intersecting, active Infrared beams, which are 100% secure. ( in contrast, Passive Infrared (PIRs) motion detectors, can be bypassed by simple, no tech methods). The Overhead system provide both serial data link interface as well as Form C contact closure reports.
The units provide high accuracy people counting as well as intrusion detection. Intruders cannot pass through without causing a count or a tamper condition. Even if intrusion detection of certain areas is not required, unexpected traffic at odd times can be retroactively examined, and the time stamp feature used to supplement video recordings. Instead of the labor intensive review of whole video tapes, the time stamp allows the viewing of only the relevant sections.
The installed units do not require any floor or wall wiring. They are ceiling mounted, and wiring is a single, supplied in-ceiling cable. This means there are no floor obstructions, unlike normal turnstile type devices.
